Thom’s Take
The E61 BMW 535 is a fantastic wagon — the last of the 5-series wagons in the USA! The Pre-LCI version (2006-2007) of the E61 was the 530xi with the N52 engine, but the LCI E61 (2008-2010) came equipped with the legendary 302 hp twin turbo N54 engine. My wagon comes with upgraded turbos, aftermarket M-style body kit, 19-inch wheels and an aftermarket Carplay/Android Auto box. I’ve owned a handful of BMW wagons (E39, E46, E61) and the E61 has been the best daily driver/highway cruiser.
Highlights
My 2008 BMW 535xi Wagon is painted Black Sapphire Metallic over a Natural Brown interior.
The attached CarFax shows 4-owners since new with no accidents or discrepancies. I have owned the car since August of 2020.
The E61 launched in 2006 for the USA market as a replacement for the lauded E39. Even though the E61 is loved today, it was a vast departure from it’s mechanical, pre-internet predecessor. The upgrades included new engines, a polarizing Chris Bangle design, the debut of idrive for the 5-series, and the BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system.
The 535xi included the twin-turbocharged straight-six N54 engine with 302hp and 295 lb ft of torque.

Rear trunk hydraulics are slow.
